Lowlands was my final year project which I continued to work on after my graduation. This investigation involved mapping my neighborhood communities, professions and individuals with the aim of eliciting hidden urban territories and behaviors. Lowlands was part of Srishti In-campus exhibit at Ars Electronica 2005.

Buy less say more was my first installation based work. The attempt was to reposition or re-appropriate the vending machine as point of two way exchange of opinions and to make the machine public. This project was part of a four month residency at the Cittadellarte Foundazione Pistoletto, Biella, Italy.

Community Radio

COMMUNITY RADIO

The Community Radio workshop exposed us to a new set of communication tools to work with. With community radio soon becoming a reality in India this workshop explored all that goes into creating content for a local radio station like sound design and recording, script writing, community participation, programming and narrowcasting technology. This workshop was held at Srishti and brought together a mixed group of people comprising of design students, teachers and grassroots practitioners.

Past continuous was a sound based installation- an aural show of interplay between tradition and modernity in the town of Biella. One could mix the scapes the way he/she wished to. This project was part of a four month residency at the Cittadellarte Foundazione Pistoletto, Biella, Italy.

An introductory lab which explored the cultural impact of mobile phones in India. The outcome was an exhibition commenting on field observations made such as intimacy through SMS, the ring tone menace, usage patterns and the blurring boundaries between private and the public.

This workshop focused on creating unusual and bespoke uses of certain technologies for a range of professions. For example I worked in a group where we created a service/product using GPS technology which a chef could use. This workshop was conducted in Srishti by Rory Hamilton from Royal College of Art, London.
